In fact, Africa has a dramatic advantage over the rest of the world because those 600 million people have not become addicted to the failing global fossil fuel economy.
Beginning with microsolar, that transition is tangible, affordable, and accessible. We joined Bishop Hathaway in 1999 with Solar Light for Africa in Uganda to demonstrate the incredible leverage of a small amount of solar energy to create a large impact in people's lives.
This is the time to build a solid communications channel for developing renewable energy in Africa, so those 600 million people will take courage when they learn of incredible progress being made, not from the top down, but from the bottom up!
"the evidence presented here makes it likely, we suggest, that at least three of these Big Four emitters – China, the EU and India – will see faster progress towards a clean energy economy and thus towards falling emissions than they have set out in national targets and NDCs."
And, of course, they will realize clean energy solutions at a fraction of the cost.
